Can I still receive my Australian Age Pension or New Zealand Superannuation if I relocate to Bali?
Yes, absolutely. Australian citizens who meet Centrelink eligibility criteria (being 67 or older with at least 10 years of residency) can continue receiving their Age Pension while living abroad, subject to standard income and asset tests. For New Zealanders, NZ Super is a universal, non-means-tested pension that can be paid directly into your account fortnightly while residing in Bali, following a straightforward application with Work and Income NZ prior to departure.
How does the $5,000 AUD monthly fee compare to domestic care in Australia or New Zealand?
Entering residential care privately in Australia requires a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) averaging $600,000 AUD (and often exceeding $1 Million AUD in city areas). If you choose not to pay the RAD, you face a non-refundable Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) calculated at high government interest rates (8.43%), costing between $60,000 AUD - $85,000 AUD annually purely for the room, before food or care fees are added. In New Zealand, retirement villages operating on an Occupation Right Agreement (ORA) charge a non-refundable Deferred Management Fee (DMF) of 20% to 30% upon exit. Our model requires $0 upfront RAD and zero exit fees, allowing your core capital to remain completely free, liquid, and compounding in your own bank account.
How can I fund my monthly residency fee without depleting my savings?
Most of our residents utilise the 'Keep and Rent' strategy. Instead of selling your primary home, you keep it and rent it out. A suburban home in a major Australian or New Zealand city commands a conservative rent of $650 AUD to $750 AUD per week (~$2,800 AUD per month). When combined with your government Age Pension or NZ Super (~$2,400 AUD to $2,600 AUD per month), you generate over $5,200 AUD in passive monthly income. This completely covers your $5,000 AUD all-expense-paid monthly fee in Bali with zero out-of-pocket costs, while your family home continues to appreciate.
What is not included in my $5,000 AUD monthly residency fee?
Your fee covers your private luxury villa, organic longevity dining, daily housekeeping, 24/7 on-site nurse coverage, and complete visa renewal management. Additional out-of-pocket expenses are limited strictly to your personal international health insurance premiums, personal prescription medications, hospital specialist consultation fees, and discretionary personal luxury items such as alcohol or private off-site transport.

Which retirement visa pathway should I choose?
We offer complete concierge support for two distinct, premium pathways tailored to your financial preferences and desired level of commitment. The E33F Retirement Visa (1-Year Renewable) is available for applicants aged 55 and over. This is our highly recommended pathway if you prefer maximum capital liquidity, as it requires $0 upfront bank deposits. The E33E 'Silver Hair' Visa (5-Year Permit) is available for applicants aged 60 and over, granting a 5-year stay permit upfront. This is ideal if you value multi-year administrative freedom and are completely comfortable placing a $50,000 USD deposit into your personal Indonesian state-bank account.
How do I satisfy the monthly income requirement for immigration?
To satisfy the E33F or E33E visa requirements, you simply need to provide three months of recent bank statements demonstrating a stable pension deposit, Superannuation draw, or passive rental income of at least $3,000 USD per month. Our onboarding team provides step-by-step guidance on formatting these documents to guarantee a smooth immigration clearance.
Do I need to hire local Indonesian domestic workers myself to satisfy visa laws?
No. While Indonesian immigration mandates that retirement visa holders employ at least one local assistant, you do not need to manage this yourself. We employ a centralised, highly trained Balinese hospitality and care team and officially map these staff members to your residency file, ensuring you are 100% compliant automatically.
What is the legal structure of The Avīnya, and how are my rights protected?
Our sanctuary is operated by a fully registered Foreign-Owned Limited Liability Company (PT PMA). We operate strictly under KBLI 87303 (Senior Living Accommodation Management Activities), the official government classification for private elderly care facilities. This ensures our community is legally licensed, protected, and audited under the oversight of the Indonesian Department of Social Affairs (Dinas Sosial) and immigration authorities.

How is my daily health and medication managed on-site?
Day-to-day wellness coordination is managed by our 24/7 on-site nursing staff and wellness concierge. For daily medication, prescriptions are securely pre-packed into multi-dose blister packs by our licensed clinic/hospital partner. Our nursing staff provides meticulous administration assistance using a rigorous '6 Rights' checking protocol (Right Person, Right Drug, Right Dose, Right Time, Right Route, Right Documentation) to ensure you never miss a dose.
What happens if I experience a sudden medical emergency at night?
Our facility maintains 24/7 registered nurse coverage, and every villa is retrofitted with accessible call buttons and smart motion sensors. If a critical health event occurs, our team instantly activates our VIP Emergency Corridor. Through our formalised partnership with an ACHSI-accredited hospital, a fully equipped ambulance is dispatched immediately, bypassing standard transit delays.
Is healthcare in Bali up to Western standards?
Yes, Bali's private medical infrastructure is highly advanced and heavily utilised by expatriates. Our emergency escalation partner includes BIMC Hospital, which is strictly accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI).
Is The Avīnya a nursing home?
We are a Restorative Longevity Resort built around active aging and the 'Dignity of Risk'. You live in a private luxury villa with your own courtyard/pool, enjoying organic gourmet dining and custom mobility classes. It feels like a five-star vacation, backed by the peace of mind of a clinical-grade safety net operating silently in the background.

What should I do with my private health insurance back home?
We highly recommend placing your domestic private policy (e.g., Bupa, HBF, Southern Cross) on an 'Overseas Suspension' rather than cancelling it outright. This pauses your monthly premium payments while living in Bali but preserves all your completed waiting periods. The moment you return home, you can reactivate your policy instantly.
What happens if I stay in Bali longer than my insurance suspension allows?
Australian health funds often allow a 'rolling pause', meaning after a 3-year suspension, you can briefly reactivate the policy by paying a few months' premiums, then suspend it again for another 36 months. Alternatively, under Australian rules, if you cancel your hospital cover while residing overseas for at least one continuous year, the days spent abroad do not count toward your Lifetime Health Cover (LHC) loading penalty limit.
Do I need health insurance to live at The Avīnya?
Yes. Indonesian visa mandates require active health insurance coverage. To ensure you are protected from out-of-pocket costs during major emergencies, we require all residents to hold either a comprehensive International Private Medical Insurance (iPMI) policy or a premium domestic Indonesian insurance policy prior to admission.
Is medical repatriation back to my home country included?
International air-ambulance repatriation is an external insurance feature. If your global iPMI policy does not natively include repatriation, or if you choose a local domestic insurance plan, our concierge team can seamlessly facilitate a standalone Medical Evacuation Membership (such as the BIMC Vitalis program). Available as an optional premium add-on, this service operates independently from your monthly residency fee to guarantee your swift, fully managed transition to advanced care in Australia or New Zealand is secured.
Will living in Bali affect my Australian Medicare?
Australian citizens legally retain their Medicare eligibility for up to 5 years after moving overseas. While you cannot access Medicare services directly in Bali, your access is fully intact during visits back to Australia. If your residency abroad exceeds 5 years, you can simply and easily re-enroll in Medicare upon returning to Australia by providing proof of your resumed residency.

How are your luxury villas designed to prevent falls and accommodate aging?
The Avīnya integrates sophisticated environmental design to ensure seamless, barrier-free living. Our entire facility is optimised for independent mobility. We ensure there are no steps or stairs, featuring expansive, well-lit corridors and step-free transitions throughout the property. To prevent nighttime disorientation, transparent glass partitions are treated with elegant frosted privacy films at eye level, and low-level LED motion sensors illuminate wide walkways to gently guide your path.

What if I am not 55 years old yet? Can I still get a retirement visa, and if not, what are my options?
Indonesian Retirement Visas, such as the E33F, are legally restricted to foreign nationals who are at least 55 years old. If you are retiring early and have not yet reached this age, you will not qualify for this specific category. However, you are not out of options. Our visa concierge partners can assist you in exploring alternative long-term residency pathways. For example, if you are relocating with a spouse who is over 55, they can act as the primary retirement visa holder, and you may be eligible for a dependent visa. Alternatively, we can explore the Investor KITAS framework if you meet specific investment criteria.
I am moving with my partner. Do we pay double the monthly fee?
No, couples do not pay double. While our baseline $5,000 AUD monthly subscription is designed for single occupancy in a 1-bedroom luxury villa, we offer dedicated packages for couples. For couples sharing a larger suite, the all-inclusive rate ranges from $7,000 to $8,000 AUD per month. This seamlessly covers both residents' gourmet dining, active longevity programming, daily care coordination, and simultaneous visa processing.
What happens if my health declines and I eventually require high-acuity nursing or memory care?
The Avīnya is specifically designed as a restorative longevity sanctuary for independent living; we are not equipped to serve as a high-acuity, full-time bedridden nursing facility or intensive memory care ward. Should your physical or cognitive health decline to a point where continuous, highly dependent medical care is required, our Director of Wellness will work closely with your family and your international health insurance provider. We will seamlessly facilitate a safe, comfortable medical evacuation or transition back to a specialised high-care facility in your home country.
